Photographs from the July 1999 ADA Parade and Celebration

The Americans with Disabilities Act was celebrated in Iowa City with a parade and a day of activities. Starting from the Civic Center, parade participants walked, wheeled, skated, and rode to College Green Park for a celebration. Guest speakers at the park included Lieutenant-Governor Sally Pederson and Marilyn Turner, executive director of the Iowa Commission for Persons with Disabilities. Other speakers included Iowa City attorney Sondra Kaska, State Senator Robert Dvorsky, Heather Ritchie of the Conner Center, and members of the Iowa City City Council and the Johnson County Board of Supervisors.

On this page are several photographs of groups in the parade; more photographs from the parade are on a second page. Click on any picture to see the full-size photograph.
