Spring represents a time of new beginnings. For two Woodward Resource Center (WRC) residents, this will mean an exciting opportunity to experience the vibrant community of Ames.
"She has made great progress,” said Story County CPC Administrator Deb Schildroth, referring to the young Story county resident who is coming home. “Her family is delighted that they will be able to see her more often, and is grateful to the Conner Training Consortium for the funding assistance to make this possible"
Story County Community Services, Lutheran Services of Iowa, North Central Human Services, AEA 267, and WRC have teamed up to make this move a reality. As planning progressed, the team began to pursue the idea of a second individual moving into the community. Both her guardian and Harrison County CPC Administrator Lonnie Maguire approved. A transition team is now busy assisting the two young women with all the details (paying the deposit and rent, connecting utilities, purchasing furniture) of setting up a household.
The Conner Training Consortium commends the transition team for keeping the desires and preferences of the two young women and their families at the forefront of all planning efforts. Because of the team’s creative thinking, two individuals will be able to share their gifts and talents with their new community.
