Featured Article Tells a Story of Resiliency and Independence

Read the latest issue of the “Possibilities in Education and Training” newsletter. The lead article features Mary Sue Adams, a Waterloo resident who recently moved from Harmony House, a facility serving individuals who have experienced a traumatic brain injury, to a house she designed herself. Mary Sue’s practical nature is on full display throughout the article as she describes her universally designed kitchen and tells readers about a unique problem-solving strategy for getting her “singing fix” during COVID-19. Her gratitude for the support she has received from Iowa’s Money Follows the Person program and from community-based resources speaks to the need for maintaining and expanding community integration programs and services. Mary Sue’s advice for those considering a move to the community applies to us all!
