Iowa Olmstead Consumer Task Force Seeks New Members

Advocate for Community Living in Iowa!

The Iowa Olmstead Consumer Task Force (OCTF) is accepting applications for membership through Friday, July 23. The OCTF is a statewide advocacy charged by Executive Order to monitor Iowa’s response to the 1999 Olmstead Supreme Court decision. The Task Force’s activities support the full inclusion of persons with disabilities in housing, employment, transportation, health care, and other areas. Members work with consumers and families, state agencies, service providers, and others to ensure that legislation, changes in administrative rule, and other policies and programs promote the full inclusion of individuals with disabilities in all aspects of life in the community.

The Task Force meets six times a year. Meetings are currently held virtually and will begin in person when it is deemed safe to do so. A virtual option will always be available. OCTF members are eligible to receive a $50 stipend as well as reimbursement for expenses such as lodging, transportation, and personal assistance on a case-by-case basis. To learn more, contact Anne Crotty, anne-crotty@uiowa.edu, or visit the Task Force website at: https://www.olmsteadrealchoicesia.org/.
